Observing Stations - ASOS
The Automated Surface Observing System, ASOS, is sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Defense (DOD), and the National Weather Service (NWS), an agency within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
ASOS stations are automated weather stations designed to provide pilots and and meteorologists with near real-time weather conditions. Observations include wind information, temperature, humidity, information of present weather, and cloud conditions. These variables are updated at hourly or sub-hourly intervals. ASOS stations are located at airports and number greater than 600 in the U.S. For more information about the ASOS program, try the following NWS website.

In Alaska, there are 126 automated sites located at area airports. Click here to get a station listing and links to current conditions.
