| The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilites maintains and operates the Road Weather Information System. |
||||||
| RWIS stations are automated weather observing sites that are located along roads and highways in the state. These stations provide users with real time weather conditions to users. Observations include air temperature, humidity, and wind information, as well as pavement surface and subsurface conditions. Stations are still being deployed such that in the future the Alaska highway system will be instrumented. For more information about this program try the DOT&PF website (under Road Weather System). Users can vew the current weather and road conditions at operating RWIS sites. |
