| The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admisitration operates a number of buoys in Alaskan waters. Data are archived at the National Data Buoy Center, which is part of the National Weather Service (NWS). Buoys are also located off the northern coast of Alaska and across the Arctic Ocean in the Internationa Arctic Buoy Program. | ||||||
| Buoy stations are deployed in Alaskan waters in the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea. These automated stations observe atmosphere and ocean conditions, such as air temperature, winds, sea surface temeprature, and wave characteristics. Current conditions can be viewed here, and the NDBC also archives historical records here. Buoys are also located in the Arctic Ocean. Individual station data and mapped products are available here. |
