Ketchikan
A handful of low temperature records were broken in Ketchikan this April in a cooler and wetter than normal month. Lows of 28°F, 26°F, 26°F, 27°F, and another 26°F on the 19th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, and 25th all broke records for their respective dates. The latter is the absolute low for the month and 55°F on the 22nd and 23rd was the absolute high. The mean temperature for the month was 3.6°F cooler than normal at 43.0°F while the average high and low temperatures were 47°F and 32°F, respectively. Due to the relative cold, heating degree days were about 100 units more than normal for the month at 759. The 1-day precipitation total of 4.40 inches on the 11th was a mere tenth of an inch shy of the record highest amount for this date. The total for the month was 12.91 inches, more than 3 inches above average for April, and there were three days when precipitation was greater than one inch.
