Anchorage had a mean monthly temperature of 53.3°F this June, 0.1°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 75°F on the 1st, while the lowest temperature was 42°F on the 1st and 15th.

 

Precipitation was 10% below normal, with 0.87” measured and 0.97" expected. The average wind speed was 7.7 mph, while the maximum was 41 mph from a southeasterly direction on the 10th.

Barrow June 2017

 

The mean monthly temperature for Barrow in June was 34.7°F, 0.9°F below the normal of 35.6°F. The highest temperature for the month occurred on the 29th at 66°F, while the lowest was 22°F occurring on the 5th.

 

Precipitation was light at 0.26”, 19% below the normal of 0.32". The average wind speed was 14.9 mph, while the highest value was 39 mph from an easterly direction on the 28th.

Delta Junction June 2017

 

Delta Junction’s mean monthly temperature was 59.8°F in June, 2.2°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 88°F on the 9th, a new record for this day, breaking the old record of 83°F set in 1957. The lowest temperature recorded this month was 38°F on the 15th.

 

Precipitation was reported at 2.06", 0.25" below expected amount of 2.31".

Fairbanks June 2017

 

Fairbanks had a mean monthly temperature of 62.8°F this June, 2.4°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 90°F occurring on the 9th, a new record for this day, breaking the old record of 87°F from 1957. This is also the second earliest date for the temperature to reach 90°F, after the 90°F reached on May 28th, 1947. The lowest temperature was 43°F on the 13th and 15th.

 

Precipitation was above normal with 1.73” reported, 0.36” above the normal of 1.37”. The total rainfall of 1.03" on the 11th set a new daily record; breaking the old record of 0.95" set a year ago. The highest wind speed was 29 mph from a northeasterly direction on the 6th, while the average wind speed was 5.6 mph.

Juneau June 2017

 

The mean monthly temperature for Juneau in June was 53.3°F, 1.3°F below the normal for the month. The highest temperature for the month was 73°F occurring on the 8th. The lowest temperature for the month was 36°F occurring on the 4th.

 

Precipitation was above normal with 3.86” measured, 0.62” above normal. Trace or more of precipitation fell on all but four days of the month. The highest wind speed was 37 mph from a southeasterly direction on the 19th while the average wind speed was 7.0 mph.

Ketchikan June 2017

 

Ketchikan had a mean monthly temperature of 53.8°F, 0.3°F below the normal for June. The highest temperature for the month was 69°F occurring on the 23rd, while the lowest was 39°F on the 18th.

 

Precipitation was heavier (66%) than normal, with 10.97” measured and 6.60” normally expected.

King Salmon June 2017

 

King Salmon had a mean monthly temperature of 53.7°F this June, 2.2°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 76°F occurring on the 1st, while the lowest was 34°F on the 19th, and this is a new daily low, breaking the old record of 35°F set in 1997.

 

Precipitation was heavy with 2.40” recorded, 0.75” (45%) above normal. The total rainfall on the of 1.03" on the 14th set a new daily record, more than double the old record of 0.49" set in 1978. The average wind speed was 7.7 mph while the highest wind speed was 38 mph from a southerly direction on the 28th.

Kodiak June 2017

 

June’s mean monthly temperature for Kodiak was 50.8°F, 1.1°F above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 70°F occurring on the 24th, while the minimum was 36°F occurring on the 15th.

 

Precipitation was above normal and measured at 7.98”, 35% above the normal of 5.91". The total rainfall of 2.22" on the 28th broke the old daily record of 1.84" set in 1965. The average wind speed was 9.7 mph while the highest wind speed was 53 mph from a northeasterly direction on the 5th.

Nome June 2017

 

Nome had a mean monthly temperature of 52.7°F this June, 4.9°F above the normal of 47.8°F. The highest temperature for the month was 76°F on the 5th and 8th, while the lowest value was 36°F on the 2nd and 18th.

 

Precipitation was above normal with 1.18” measured, 20% above the normal of 0.98". The average wind speed was 9.8 mph while the highest was 36 mph from a northerly direction on the 8th.
