Temperatures started cold for the month, warmed up, then fell colder again, repeating this pattern for the month. The warmest observed temperature was on the 8th and the 9th, with 32.0°F recorded. The lowest temperature for the month was a cold -41°F on the 26th.

The mean wind speed for December was 13.2 mph, with the highest gust of 48 mph recorded on the 1st, from a westerly direction.

Kodiak's mean temperature for the month was 31.2°F, ending up equal to the expected mean for December. The warmest temperature for the month was 47.0°F, observed on the 10th, which also set a record for the day, breaking the previous record of 46°F reached in both 1986 and 1979. The coldest temperature was 10°F on the 16th.
