The high of 72°F reached on the 3rd 1995 record for the day by 2°F. The lowest recorded temperature for the month occurred on the 9th and 14th at 31°F.
Precipitation was slight, with a monthly amount of 0.06", 10% of normal. This is the 5th lowest value in 101 years. No snow was recorded, while 0.9" was the expected amount. The average wind speed was 5.8 mph, and the greatest wind speed was 42 mph from a southwesterly direction during the windstorm on the 31st.

The highest temperature recorded for the month was 73°F on the 17th which also broke the previous record for the day, of 69°F set in 2002. Daily temperature maxima were recorded on the 2nd, with a temperature of 70°F breaking the 66°F recorded in 2009, while the high temperature of 68°F on the 3rd broke the 2009 record by 2°F, and the 4th's 68°F broke the 2004 record by 1°F, and the 10th's recorded temperature of 68°F broke a 1954 record of 65°F.
Monthly precipitation in May was recorded at 0.47", 65% of the normal 0.72". No snow was recorded; the normal amount is 0.3". The highest wind speed occurred on the 31st, with a 46 mph, blowing from a southerly direction. The average wind speed was 7.4 mph.

Then on the 17th, the high temperature of 72°F tied the daily record set in way back in 1945. The lowest recorded temperature occurred on the 5th with 33°F.
Precipitation light at just 49% of normal, with 1.67" recorded; making this the 10th driest on record. The average wind speed was 6.6 mph, while the fastest wind speed was 38 mph, blowing from an easterly direction on the 3rd.
Ketchikan May’s monthly mean temperature was 52.8°F, 4.2°F above the normal of 48.6°F. The highest temperature recorded this month was 71°F on the 16th, while the lowest was 34°F on the 5th.
Precipitation was less than normal, with 6.06" recorded for the month or 74% of the normal of 8.20". However, on the 22nd 3.17" of precipitation fell, breaking the daily record of 2.15" set in 1988.
King Salmon had a monthly mean temperature of 48.9°F, 4.7°F above the normal of 44.2°F. The highest temperature for the month was 78°F on the 16th, while the lowest was 26°F on both the 1st and 2nd.
Numerous daily records were set this May from the 10th to the 16th: on the 10th, a temperature of 67°F broke the 2013 record of 63°F; the 11th then set a new daily record with a recorded temperature of 72°F breaking the 1996 record of 68°F. Following this, on the 12th, the recorded 73°F broke the old 71°F record set in 1968. Then on the 13th, the 71°F recorded beat the 2009 record by 1°F; on the 14th the 72°F topped the 2009 record by 3°F; on the 15th the 73°F recorded broke the 1999 record of 68°F. Finally, on the 16th, the 78°F recorded temperature shattered the old 2002 record of 67°F, ending the unusual warm spell. But then on the 22nd the recorded 68°F tied the 2003 record.
Precipitation was higher than normal, with 2.04" recorded, 0.79" above the normal of 1.25". On the 29th 0.83" fell, breaking the 1999 daily record for the day of 0.72". King Salmon had no snowfall this month, while 0.8" was expected. The average wind speed was 8.9 mph, while the highest wind speed was 38 mph blowing from a southeasterly direction on the 27th, which also broke the record for the day of 35 mph set in 2003. On the 19th a maximum wind speed of 37 mph broke the 2012 record for the day of 33 mph.
This May Kodiak had a monthly mean temperature of 50.3°F, 6.0°F above the normal of 44.3°F. The highest temperature recorded for the month was 77°F on the 17th, while the lowest was 34°F on the 16th. Four new daily high records were set this month; on the 2nd a temperature of 66°F broke the old 2003 record of 59°F, on the 10th a temperature of 66°F broke the 1940 record of 64°F, the 16th set the official record of 66°F, smashing the 1999 record of 60°F. Finally, the 77°F recorded on the 17th broke the daily record of 68°F set in 2002.
Precipitation was light this month at 1.19", just 21% of the normal amount of 5.62". No snow fell in Kodiak, while 0.2" is the normal expected amount. The average wind speed was 8.1 mph, while the greatest wind speed on the 18th was 46 mph blowing from a northeasterly direction.
Nome had a monthly mean temperature, this May, of 35.1°F, 1.7°F below the normal of 36.8°F. The highest temperature recorded for the month was 55°F on the 22nd, while the lowest was 20°F on the 5th.
