Anchorage June 2012

Anchorage recorded an average temperature in June of 54.3°F, 0.9°F below the normal of 55.2°F. The maximum temperature of the month occurred on the 22ndwith 75°F, while a minimum temperature of 40°F was observed on the 4thand 5thof June. For the whole month the temperature followed the expected trend fairly closely, with the exception of warmer temperatures around the 20th.
Precipitation was reported at 1.39", which is 43% above the normal of 0.97". The average cloudiness was high with 80%. The mean monthly wind speed was calculated as 6.9 mph, with the peak wind speed occurred on 8that 38 mph blowing from a southerly direction.

Barrow June 2012

Barrow reported an average temperature in June of 37.3°F, 1.7°F above normal. The month was fairly close to the expected values, with the exception of warm days on the 15thand 18th. The 66°F on the 18thwas the maximum temperature for the month, while the 28°F on the 1stwas the minimum. No new temperature records were observed during the month.
Precipitation in Barrow totaled 0.09" just 28% of the long-term mean of 0.32". Some snowfall was observed on five days, for a total amount of 0.1". For the 2011-12 winter, the total snowfall hit 76.1", the second highest seasonal snowfall on record, a record that stretches back to 1920. The highest winter was 2008-09 with a total of 77.4". The mean monthly wind speed was 13.5 mph and a gust of 43 mph occurred on the 21st, blowing from a westerly direction.

Big Delta June 2012

InBig Delta the mean June temperature was 57.9°F, just above the long-term mean of 57.6. The highest monthly temperature of 83°F was observed on the 23rd, while the minimum temperature (41°F) occurred on the 1st. The temperatures were mixed throughout the month with respect to the expected trend for June. No new daily records were observed.
Precipitation in June was reported at 2.06", 11% below the expected amount of 2.31".

Juneau June 2012

InJuneau , the average temperature was 51.7°F, an ample -2.9°F below the long term mean. The maximum temperature for the month (82°F) occurred on the 23rd. The minimum temperature (41°F) was recorded on the 3rd, 5thand 10thof the month. No new daily extremes were observed.
Precipitation totaled 6.69", just more than double the normal of 3.24". It rained on 28 days of the month, and June 2012 was the wettest June on record, topping the 6.22" from June 1996. Despite the high monthly record precipitation, there were no daily records set. The mean monthly wind speed was 6.7 mph, with a maximum gust of 37 mph occurring on 24th, blowing from southeast. Unsurprisingly, mean cloudiness was high at 90%, and only one day registered as fair.

Ketchikan June 2012

Ketchikan's average temperature of 52.7°F in June was 1.4°F below the long-term mean. The highest temperature of the month measured 81°F and occurred on the 23rd, tying the record for this day, set in 2004. The monthly low temperature of 37°F transpired on the 4th.
Monthly precipitation of 9.85" was nearly 50% above the long-term mean of 6.60". No new records were set.

King Salmon June 20122

King Salmon reported an average temperature of 49.0°F, 2.5°F below normal. The high temperature was 78°F on 22ndof June, and this was a new record high. The former record had been 75°F, set in 2001. On the previous day, the temperature reached a high of 74°F, and this tied the record set in 1993. The low temperature of the month occurred on the 1st, with 32°F. There was a new daily record low on the 14thwith 33°F. The old record was 34°F set in 2002.
The precipitation total was measured at 2.47", 50% above the normal of 1.65". The rainfall on the 19thof 0.72" surpassed the old record for this day of 0.57", set in way back in 1955. Average wind speed was 8.4 mph and the highest gust was recorded at 36 mph on the 15th, blowing from an easterly direction.

Kodiak June 2012

Kodiak's average temperature of 50.5°F for June was 0.8°F above the long-term mean. The highest temperature measured was 74°F on the 17th, while the low temperature of 38°F occurred on the 2nd, 5th, 6thand 7th. No new records were set.
Monthly precipitation was very light at 0.80", only 14% of the normal of 5.91". The monthly average wind speed was calculated at 6.6 mph, and on the 17tha gust of 37 mph was recorded, blowing from a westerly direction.

Nome June 2012

Nome reported a mean monthly temperature in June of 47.9°F, just above the normal of 47.8°F. The warmest monthly temperature was 76°F, observed on the 7th. The coldest temperature occurred on the 2ndand 3rdat 30°F. No new daily records were set.
Precipitation totaled 0.28", just 29% of the normal value for June of 0.98". The average wind speed for the month was 7.7 mph, and the highest gust observed was 35 mph on the 12th, blowing from a westerly direction.

Fairbanks May 2012

InFairbanks the average May temperature was 47.9°F, 1.3°F below the long term mean. The high temperature for the month was 71°F on the 22ndof May, while the low temperature for the month was 18°F observed on the 3rd. The temperature followed fairly closely the expected trend for the month and no new extremes were reported.
Precipitation in May was fairly close to normal (0.60") with an observed value of 0.73". Remarkable was the precipitation on the 25thwith 0.52", setting a new record for this day. The old record had been 0.50" set in 1973. The mean wind speed was 5.1 mph, with the highest gust of 33 mph occurring on the 11thMay, blowing from a southerly direction.
