Juneau August 2010

The mean monthly temperature in Juneau was 56.8°F, 1.1°F above normal for the month. The high temperature was 80°F on the 15th, and the low was 43°F on the 29th and the 30th. The recorded precipitation for August was 4.31”, 80% of normal. The greatest one-day precipitation total was 0.78” on the 6th. Winds were light, averaging 4.6 mph at the airport and on the 9th and 16th a peak gust of 22 mph was reported.

Ketchikan August 2010

The average temperature in Ketchikan was 59.8°F, 1.3°F above average for August. A high of 83°F was recorded on the 15th, and on the 21st, a low of 43°F was reported. Precipitation during the month was measured at 8.19”, 85% of normal for the month. The highest one-day total was 2.81” on the 23rd.

King Salmon August 2010

In King Salmon, the average temperature in August was 53.1°F, 1.4°F below average of. A high temperature of 70°F was recorded on the 24th and the low was 37°F on the 23rd. Precipitation measured 4.41” this month, 53% above normal. The greatest one-day precipitation total was 0.43” on the 21st. The 20th concluded 39 consecutive days of precipitation in King Salmon, which makes this the second longest record for consecutive days of rain. Winds at the airport averaged 8.0 mph and on the16th the highest gust of 53 mph occurred.

Nome August 2010

51.2°F was the average temperature in Nome during August, 1.0°F above the normal temperature. The reported high was 65°F on the 1st and the low was 36°F on the 23rd. Precipitation for the month was measured at 2.26”, 70% of normal for the month. The largest one-day total was 0.55” on the 10th. Winds averaged 7.6 mph at the airport and a gust of 43 mph occurred on the 15th.

Fairbanks July 2010

The average temperature for the month in Fairbanks was 62.6°F, just slightly below the average July temperature of 63.0°F.  The high temperature was 85°F on the 9th, and the low was 47°F on the 28th.  A total of 3.11" of precipitation was recorded, which is 76% greater than normal for the month.  From the 10th through the 31st Fairbanks recorded rainfall on all but four days, unusual for this time of year.  The highest one-day total was 1.35" on the 21st, of which, 1.15" fell in just one hour, between 3 and 4pm, a new 1-hour record rainfall" for Fairbanks. Winds averaged 3.9 mph and the highest gust was 33 mph on the 17th.

Anchorage July 2010

Anchorage reported an average temperature of 56.5°F, 2.1°F below normal.  The highest temperature for the month was 73°F on the 9th and the low for the month was 44°F on the 9th.  Precipitation was measured at 3.02", which is 78% above normal for July.  The highest one-day total was 0.78" on the 26th.  Winds averaged 6.3 mph and the highest gust was 40 mph.

Barrow July 2010

Average temperature in Barrow this July was 42.0°F, 1.6°F above the average. The high temperature for the month was 63°F on the 26th and the low temperature was 30°F on the 14th.  The total precipitation for the month was 1.64", 89% above normal. The greatest one-day precipitation total was 0.76" on the 19th, which also set a new precipitation record for the day; the old record was 0.38" set in 2008. Winds averaged 11.6 mph and the highest gust reported was 36 mph on July 31st.

Big Delta July 2010

60.4°F was the average temperature for Big Delta this month, only 0.3°F below normal.  The high temperature was 81°F recorded on the 9th and the recorded low was 45°F on the 16th.  Total precipitation was reported at 1.79", just 65% of normal for July.   The highest one-day total was 0.42" on the 3rd.
