Kodiak was warmer than normal this July, with a monthly observed temperature of 58.0°F, which was 3.5°F warmer than the long term mean, making this the 7th warmest July on record. July also saw nine strait days of 70°F or higher, the second only to the 10 day stretch from July 1953. The warmest temperature for the month (78°F) was observed on the 22nd, while the coldest (44°F) was recorded on the 3rd. Along with these warmer than normal temperatures, the daily record high (originally set in 1967 and reached again in 1982) on the 24th of 73°F was tied.
Precipitation was much less than normal, with 1.06" recorded, just 22% of the normal amount. Kodiak went 19 days with no precipitation recorded, and this is the 9th longest stretch on record. The average wind speed was 5.4 mph, with a peak wind speed of 37 mph from a westerly direction on the 20th.
