Anchorage April 2012

Anchorage recorded an average temperature of 38.8°F, 2.0°F above the normal of 36.8°F. This was a pleasant change from March, for which monthly the mean temperature was substantially below normal. The maximum temperature of the month occurred on the 25thand 27th, both with 58°F, while a minimum temperature of 21°F was observed on the 3rd. For the whole month the temperature followed the expected trend fairly closely.

Big Delta April 2012

In Big Delta the mean April temperature was 37.7°F, a substantial 5.5°F above the long term mean. The highest monthly temperature of 57°F was observed on the 17th, while the minimum temperature (-4°F) occurred on the 4th. The temperature of 52°F of the 13thmatched the old record high for this day set in 1978 and 1943, while two days later the temperature of 56°F established a new maximum, surpassing the values from 1970 and 1965 by 1°F.
Precipitation in April was reported as 0.11" water-equivalent, slightly less than half of the expected amount of 0.23".

Fairbanks April 2012

In Fairbanks the average April temperature was 36.9°F, a substantial 4.4°F above the long term mean. The high temperature for the month was 61°F on the 16th, which is also a new record high for this day. The previous maximum for this day was 59°F observed in 1993. The low temperature for the month was -8°F observed on the 4th. The beginning of the month was much colder than normal, followed by above normal temperatures, especially around the middle of the month, while the end of April reported seasonally normal temperatures.

Site Survey

King Salmon August 2011

King Salmon reported an average temperature of 52.1°F, a substantial 2.5°F below the long term mean. The high temperature for August was 71°F, recorded on the 17thand the lowest temperature was 33°F on the 23rd. This latter value represents a new record low for this specific day. The old record had been 34°F set in 1969.
The precipitation total was measured as 3.99", surpassing the normal value of 2.95" by 1.04". On 25 days of August at least some rain was recorded. Average wind speed was 7.4 mph and the highest gust was recorded at 36 mph on the 19th.
