Ketchikan March 2012

Ketchikan's average temperature of 35.8°F in March was 2.0°F below the long-term mean. Generally, the temperature was slightly below normal for most of the month with the exception of the last week. The highest temperature of the month measured at 51°F, which occurred both on the 27thand 28thof March, while the low temperature of 22°F occurred on the 5thof the month.
Monthly precipitation was measured at 10.69", very close to the normal of 10.89". The 8thof the month was notable with a precipitation total of 2.18".

Juneau March 2012

InJuneau , the average temperature was 33.0°F, slightly below the normal of 33.8°F for March. The maximum temperatures for the month (51°F) occurred on the 28thand the minimum temperature (16°F) was recorded on the 5thof March. No new temperature records were set during the whole month, and temperatures were quite close to normal.

Anchorage March 2012

Anchorage recorded an average temperature of 21.4°F, 5.2°F below the normal of 26.6°F. This is a remarkable change from February, during which month the mean temperature was higher than March's mean temperature. The maximum temperature of the month occurred on the 29thand once again on the 31stwith 47°F, while a minimum temperature of 0°F was observed on the 12thof March. The observed temperatures were below normal for the month with the exception of the last week, which was seasonally warmer than normal no new daily records were set during the month.

Big Delta March 2012

InBig Delta the mean March temperature was 7.1°F, somewhat higher than the temperature of Fairbanks, and -7.0°F below the long term mean for March. It is believed this is caused by the more frequent occurrences of Chinook winds, which bring warmer than seasonally normal temperatures. This station is situated much closer to the Alaska Range, hence more affected by these winds. The highest monthly temperatures of 43°F was observed on the 29thand 30thMarch, while the minimum temperature (-28°F) occurred on the 5th. No new records were set during the month.

Fairbanks March 2012

In Fairbanks the average March temperature was 4.5°F, a substantial 6.9°F below the long term mean. Furthermore, the mean temperature was colder in March than in February, a relatively infrequent occurrence. The high temperature for the month was 44°F on the 28thMarch, while the lowest temperature was a frigid -30°F observed on the 5thof the month. For most of the month, the temperatures were below normal with the exception of the last week. No new daily records were set.
